Most gardeners think of winter as the off-season but at Heirloom Gardens, winter is a time to get all our ducks in a row in order to get a jump-start on the spring. With some planning and preparing, your garden can be more productive much earlier than if you wait until the spring to get started.
Ideas include:
*Building cold frames, hoop row covers, propogation benches (for starting seeds), and compost bins.
*Adding structural elements such as trellising, arbors, pergolas and raised beds.
*Garden planning, seed and plant selection, germinating seeds.
*Preparing the soil for planting using sheet-mulching and other techniques (the earlier you start, the better)
Atay tuned for more information on each of these winter projects!
